Plus, a look ahead at a fresh Swiss Water decaf arrival landing later this year.
If any of these terms in the market report are confusing, we urge you to use Investopedia to make sense of them. We have found it to be a brilliant tool when learning about all things trading, futures and currency. Arabica (New York) opened at 340 USC/lb, before rallying to a month high of 371 USC/LB on 06/06. From here on, the market moved in a downward trajectory for the rest of the month to close out at 300.10 USC/LB, which was effectively a 6-month low (matching levels seen back in January). Arabica NY C Graph This sell off comes with the progression of the Brazilian harvest to around 30% completion, and good reports of volumes and bean sizes being harvested. Good rains throughout coffee producing regions have also led to a more positive outlook for Brazil's 26/27 harvest which eases a lot of the concerns around arabica volumes in the near to medium term. We did see a small frost in pockets early last week, although the damage was very minimal with an estimated 250,000 bags lost and it didn't seem to worry the market. It does remind us that despite the bearish days we are seeing in the market, until we get past the start of August we are still in a critical time where frosts can occur, and everyone will be watching the weather forecast like hawks for any sign of cold fronts coming through the coffee regions.
