Bennetts at Golden Bean 2014

It’s coming up to that time of the year again. Every morning the sun is shining a little earlier and the allusion of spring is in the air. It’s nearly time to dust off the sunscreen and get ready to slip, slop, slap as we prepare to head to Port Macquarie for the Golden Bean!

One of our favourite events on the industry calendar, the renowned roasting competition and conference, will once again be held at Rydges in Port Macquarie. The Golden Bean is a great opportunity for roasters to connect, share and celebrate our unique industry. It will be held from Wednesday 8th – Saturday 11th October. Coffee judging will begin on Wednesday and run for three days with the winners announced on Saturday evening at the official awards dinner.

Celebrating its ninth year the competition will feature international speakers Bruce Milletto and Andrew Hetzel and host a dedicated green bean buying show and cupping day. A new category has been added to the competition featuring use of the Espro Press. The new category, ‘Pressed Filter (Espro)’, highlights the increasing popularity of alternative brew methods at the café level.

With the event a little over a month away preparations are in full swing at Bennetts HQ. We are excited to, once again, be participating in the Green Bean Buying Show and will have a selection of our finest coffees on offer to cup and purchase. Connecting with new and old faces was the highlight of the event for us last year and we can’t wait to see you all again.

If you haven’t already entered or registered to attend the competition visit the Golden Bean website for more information. For those of you who cannot attend, be sure to follow @HABennetts on Twitter as we will be posting all the best bits and keeping you up-to-date with #GoldenBean 2014.
